Backyard Poultry Program

April 22, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$5.00

More people are choosing to raise their own chickens, especially small flocks of laying hens for producing eggs. This course provides a broad introduction for those who want to keep small flocks of laying hens. Participants will learn about poultry feeding, health and egg production, as well as learn about the food safety side of handling eggs. They should leave the program with the knowledge required to successfully keep chickens in their own backyard.

The program is part of AgriLife Extension’s Backyard Basics initiative. The Backyard Basics initiative is a statewide effort by AgriLife Extension focusing on the production, preservation and preparation of wholesome, nutritious homegrown and homemade foods. Keeping chickens for egg production is a fun but involved process and people should be award of the work and maintenance needed to successfully raise backyard chickens.

Reserve your spot by Thursday, April 17th. Refreshments will be provided.
